Commonly known
as “Mayana” in the Philippines, this vibrant, lush, fast-growing, and fascinating plant comes in hundreds of unknown varieties. It has fallen in and
out of the trend over the past couple of centuries - thanks to those Plantitos
and Plantitas who are bored at home from this year-long lockdown, for making this member
of the mint family more popular again than ever.
This plant is very versatile that in can live indoor or outdoor. However, if you want your Mayana to grow and produce healthy and vibrant foliage, it is still best to place it under direct sunlight during the morning and in the afternoon.

Basic Tips to Take Care of Your Mayana
Sun
Varieties of Mayana
with darker leaves tend to tolerate more sun, compared to those with lighter foliage
that requires a shady place to minimize leaf scorch. It is best to feed your Mayana with the morning sun and dappled afternoon shades.
Water
Though Mayana demands
less attention, it still best to regularly monitor its water. Just like other
plants, container plants require more frequent watering than those grown in the
garden. However, make sure to avoid it being over-watered, as the plant is susceptible
to root rot.
